Making Space For You

March 22, 2016 by Kelly Bezjak

Greetings, Spiritual Seeker!

This week, I invite you to explore the concept of having space for yourself.

What does that mean exactly and why is it important?

Having and owning your own space means giving yourself permission to be.  Permission to have all of the parts of you.  Permission to own your intuitions, your gut feelings, your inner knowing.

I just recently watched the Pixar movie Inside Out, a very touching look at the inner emotional workings of a young girl.  There are both positive and negative emotions and states depicted in the movie.  As we are wont to do from time to time, the positive emotion is given the lead and generally tries to contain and control the other states, especially the classically negative ones.

I noticed while watching the movie that as the negative emotions were repressed, contained, hidden, or pushed aside, the girl’s interior landscape started to fall apart.  Core parts started to crumble due to the imbalance created by only allowing one part to rule.

We all want the good things in life – and at the most basic level, that means being happy.  So it’s pretty natural to not want to be present to our other emotions and states.  But here’s the deal – and it’s a pretty cool cosmic paradox – when we stop fighting and resisting anything other than happiness, a really wonderful thing happens.

When we are present and allow our energies to flow, we become an integrated, whole person, with access to all the information that each of these emotions provides.  Emotions, after all, are a reaction.  They are not the source of whatever issue is going on – so fighting them doesn’t solve anything.  But if we can sit with them and allow them to be, we get space from them.  We become neutral – and our answers start to come.

If we are constantly fighting ourselves, it’s very hard to get to that place of calm, peaceful awareness where we can hear our truth.  And also in another paradox – we are usually fighting those emotions so that we don’t get overwhelmed or stuck in them.  But by fighting whatever is going on within us, we create what we were fighting to begin with – being stuck.

So – allow yourself permission to have everything within yourself, and watch the magic of an integrated personality start to emerge!  From that point, you are able to choose neutrally what is in your best interest, rather than being a victim to the endless reactions that we usually throw up.

So what’s next?

Join me on a Periscope meditation (Sundays at 7pm mountain) and practice getting to know yourself.  It will change your universe!

Peace and all love,

Kelly

Your Purpose and Your Path: What’s The Difference?

March 1, 2016 by Kelly Bezjak

Greetings, spiritual seeker!

Let’s look at the word ‘seeker’ for a minute.  What does it really mean to be a spiritual seeker?

It’s extremely personal and individual, but one way to define being a seeker is that we are looking to fulfill our spiritual purpose.

Someone else might say they are seeking to live on a spiritual path.

But what do those two things mean – and why does it matter?

Your spiritual purpose, which is the same as everyone else’s purpose, is to awaken to yourself as a spirit.  What this means is that you are aware of who you are – and in doing so, you manifest your truth in the world.  By becoming aware of yourself, you naturally start to make choices in alignment with yourself.

Here’s the critical difference between purpose and path:  path is the means to the purpose!

Think of it as a literal path.  If your spiritual purpose is the destination, the path gets you there.

The purpose is the ‘what’ and ‘why’.  The path is the ‘how’.

Specifically, the path tells you how to access your spiritual information.  Being on your path involves using spiritual tools to be centered and present, and choosing in each and every moment to be love.  It means being quiet so that you can hear the still, small voice inside.

When you are on your path, you are not reactive to the circumstances of the world.  Instead, you choose for yourself what your energy and intent will be, and you gracefully allow it to express around you.  You become sensitive to the feelings of fear/tightening/contraction/isolation and love/expansion/relief/inclusion.  You make choices because they are in alignment with your highest good.

When you are off your path, you are seeking answers from everyone and everything except for yourself.  You do things because you think they will get you in alignment with yourself – when in fact, nothing can do that except for you.  There is not enough doing and having that you can create that will ever be able to make up for being out of alignment with yourself.  Conversely, there is no beauty or grandness that can ever compare with the light that you already contain within you.

Now – back to the reason why this is important!

You realize your purpose by being on your path.

By getting quiet, choosing love, aligning with your higher, subtler, finer states, you start to become aware of your deepest soul desires.  You then are in a position to manifest those desires, because you have cleaned up your vibration to the point that you are not blocking the manifestation.  You’re ready to receive your highest good.

By choosing every single day to love yourself, to hold kindness and mercy, and to keep your heart open, you allow the creative energies of the universe to run through you.  As you are more and more aware of this dynamic energy flow, you become more and more able to create based upon that divine energy.

By turning within, even when everyone around you says differently, you tap into a source that is rich beyond measure, beautiful beyond measure, and abundant beyond measure.

You.

May you know yourself.

Blessings,

Kelly

Your Answers Are Within

February 18, 2016 by Kelly Bezjak

Many of us seeking a greater purpose start out asking lots of questions.  That’s pretty natural – especially considering that when we first start to wake up, we go through a huge period of growth where nothing seems solid or certain.

A lot of times, we’ve been through so much pain or hardship that we really just want a quick, simple set of steps to get to a better place.

All of that is really natural to want.  We want a lifeline, a comfort, a security.

So I’m going to give you the one simple key to getting from those shaky stages to a place where you start to feel some mastery.

That key?

You.

You are the key.

What does that mean, really?

Well – first off, there really are no answers other than what you have within yourself.  Part of the growth of yearning for your life purpose is a developing maturity – where you are no longer dependent on the rules and regulations of others.  Instead, you start to become self-referenced.

That is part of the evolutionary path of us all – to learn to become wise to ourselves.  Rather than accepting a cookie cutter formula that is good in all situations, we start to get quiet and look at each moment anew and start to discern the truth of each moment as it comes to us.

That requires a step forward in our maturity.  There is nothing wrong with having a set of guidelines to live our lives by – perhaps a holy book or a religious practice.  That is also a part of our development and evolution – and we have all been there.  There’s no judgement or comparison.  However, if you are asking at all what your role in life is or what your greater purpose is – you are on the brink of discovering a whole new phase of your development as a being.

That new phase is one in which you are no longer beholden to another’s wishes or desires – where you determine your destiny for yourself and where you are able to calmly and neutrally access, moment to moment, what your answer is in that moment.

The truth is that rules start to fall apart for those that are beginning to awaken.  Rules have a purpose, for sure.   However, systems like astrology take on a whole new meaning for those who choose for themselves, how they will live.  These systems become informational tools in support of our path, not pre-determined lists of events.

It therefore can become very confusing if you are trying to apply a set of rules that will cover every possible circumstance in your life.   Some rules may work part of the time and some rules may work for other times – and you may even find that the rules don’t apply consistently.

If you find any of this happening, you have good reason to celebrate.  You are embarking on a new phase in your growth.  And don’t worry – this doesn’t mean you don’t have a path or truth, just because you can’t find it in the world around you.

Ultimately – YOU are the truth. You are your own answers and you are starting to awaken to the wisdom that the answers can never be found outside of you.  They have to be realized moment to moment, piece by piece – within your heart and mind and soul.

So, how do you get back to the heart?

That is what Spirit Life Journeys is all about – learning how to get quiet to hear yourself.  To know in each moment, by seeing/hearing/feeling for yourself what your answer is and then learning how to give yourself permission to have those answers.

For in doing so, you create paradise on earth.

Your Life Path: Freedom To Be Yourself

February 3, 2016 by Kelly Bezjak

We all want to contribute, to be successful, and to make people happy.   It’s just human nature to care about other people and what they think.  It keeps us safe, secure, and content.  Right?

Not so much.

One of the hardest growth periods you may encounter while discovering your path, is learning how to shake free of the expectations of others.

We are taught by very loving and well-meaning parents, from very early on, how to behave properly and how to fit in so that we are safe and accepted.  That’s not all bad – it’s very useful to know how to fit in.

The problem comes in when we stop listening to ourselves and start looking to the rules and expectations of others, in order to live our lives.   Why is this a problem?

We lose contact with our core.  It never goes away, but we turn our back to ourselves and our own longings and dreams.  All this, in order to be safe.  Sure, we may find some stability – even some fun – but we no longer know who we really are.

Once we’ve done that – it’s not possible to live out our purpose.  Once we have decided not to be who we really are, we’ve sold our purpose – for a little bit of approval or imagined safety.

Now – that’s not to say that it’s not important to learn how to be nice to other people, or to blend in when we choose.   The key, however, is our choice.  When we assess a situation and ask what we would like to give ourselves with respect to that situation – sometimes we decide we want to be nice, to agree with another, or to work together cooperatively.

That is not giving ourselves away – that is an active, conscious choice made from listening to our heart and mind and soul.

That is really the key – listening.   When we learn to meditate (which is just getting to know ourselves) we start to knock away the expectations of other people (all the ‘do rights’) and we start to uncover what we really want to learn and experience.

That knowledge IS your path.  Whatever you observe and know in the present moment, based on contact with yourself – IS your truth, IS your path.  It allows you to make decisions and take actions based on wisdom, rather than chasing your tail listening to others and trying to make them happy so you can get what you want from them.

Taking action without listening to your truth, always creates ramifications you have to clean up later.  It’s what I lovingly refer to as the Karma Zone – where you get lessons reflected back to you that show you where you’ve gone off path.  Lots of folks live in the Karma Zone their whole lives.

When you learn to wake up and choose your reality based on your inner knowing, you’ve entered the Karma-Free Zone.  In that magical place, you decide what you want and set your intention.  It comes back to you, because you always get what you ask for.  Not only does it come back to you, it comes back to you with grace and ease – and nothing to clean up.  You create miracles and happiness, without forcing solutions that really don’t work.  You walk your truth.

That’s what being on your life path is all about – learning to get quiet and consciously choose for yourself what you would like to create.  All that comes from giving yourself permission to be who you really are.

There’s nothing more important in the world than that.

You’re Enough, Just As You Are

January 19, 2016 by Kelly Bezjak

Getting back in to the swing of things after the recent holiday break has been quite the whirlwind. Almost two weeks of doing whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, was wonderful. I got to stay up late and sleep in; enjoyed warm mugs of coffee or tea, while watching the snow fall; and basically, I just got to relax and give to myself. I enjoyed the feeling that everything was just right.

Fast forward, back to the busy routines of school, after school sports, corporate work – all that.

All of a sudden, things aren’t so rosy. So much pressure to be this thing or that thing – to be perfect – to be everything to everyone.

No wonder we long for vacations – the pressure goes away – and there are no expectations. Or at least, we have fun expectations.

I have been developing a deeper understanding of all my meditation tools this past year – so I decided to put them to work. Upon return to the grind of things, this time, I made the decision to be present and aware. To breathe and just be. To stay still inside, when I would have struggled. And you know what I learned?

I found fear.

Fear that I would drop the ball, that I wouldn’t be good enough, that I would fail. For all the times that I’ve wondered what it was that made me so uncomfortable about starting up routines after a break – I got a peek into what it was all about.

Fear that I am not enough. Fear that no matter what I do, I will not be able to make a difference, that I will not do my work well enough to get approval. And that approval is key, isn’t it? It means we are ok – that we matter. That we belong and we’ll get what we need.

I think it’s pretty easy to get tricked into thinking we’re not enough. That deception can come from many different places or people. But ultimately, where it comes from is not as important as recognizing the fear and deciding what to do with it.

Because in the end, that fear is a lie. We know that, because it feels horrible. And we aren’t horrible. We are light and love – and fear feels bad, because it’s not who we really are. Lies always cause pain – that’s all pain is! A lie in your space.

So with that, let me be the one to tell you what I had to tell myself.

It’s ok. You’re enough.

We are all magnificent, divine, etheric and energetic beings, with our own unique talent and skills. Each of us has something to contribute to life and to the world. We may think that what we have to give is not very substantial – but it’s sometimes the little things that make the biggest difference. A kind word. A bit of humor. Silent presence. Those things go a very long way.

We’re on a journey – a path – an adventure – learning to grow into our divinity and wholeness. And in that adventure, there is no competition. Is a small child learning to walk any less of a being than their older sibling who can run and jump and ride a bike? No! They’re simply at a different place in their evolution. And they will fall down many times learning to take those first steps. Is that failure? No. It’s growth. It’s process. It’s the willingness to be open to the path of evolution that life takes us on.

It’s no less true once we become ‘grown up’ – whatever that means! We all have things we are working on incorporating into our wisdom. That wisdom comes from experience! To decide we will not risk experience because we are not good enough, invalidates the whole purpose of our journey.

The purpose is not to become whole, to become good enough.

You are already that.

Evolution and growth has nothing to do with becoming more perfect so we can be deserving.

You are already deserving.

It is simply that we are growing in to a bigger version of our self – much like an acorn grows into an oak. The acorn is not bad or imperfect. It contains within it, everything that it will need to become that grand oak, with time.

As do you.

You are enough – right here, right now, just as you are.

Enjoy yourself – and every precious moment. You deserve it.
