This year I am sharing a look into what it means to say YES to life.
To understand where I am coming from, grab the book Year Of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. It’s a great, short read, and will help you set the stage for figuring out what YOUR year will be about.
I decided this year is about stepping across the threshold and actually DOING all the things I have wanted to do. And belive me, there are tons of little mental and energy blocks I have – and I bet you do too.
Guess what is the first block that came up?
Not saying my truth. Not using my voice.
I get really frustrated when I feel I have to sit by and watch stuff happen that just isn’t in my plan. Or if I feel I’m not being heard – or even bein misused.
It’s tough speaking up sometimes. What if we’re wrong? What if it doesn’t work out? Isn’t it better to sit quietly so as not to risk failure?
NO. It’s not better.
Part of the reason we get so frustrated, is that we feel there is no alternative to either passively allowing everything to happen, or raging when it happens.
There is another way. Learning to speak up – to have the hard conversations.
It means we get to risk being seen. And that’s a big one – taking a stand, having needs, asking for what’s equal and fair.
But let’s be real.
If we stand up – if we say the truth – gently and with compassion and truth of course – and someone walks out of our life?
That’s a blessing. That is life self-selecting for us. That is us aligning with our path and getting it.
And the confrontations? The fear of being challenged, of being rejected, of pain – all paper tigers. You have been through SO much worse, by suffering in silence. Trust me, dear one, you can handle a little emotion. In fact, when you get through it, you’ll wonder why you suffered in silence so long.
You’ll start to instinctively feel those opportunities to expand, to engage, to speak. You’ll know what it feels like to have an opportunity to align with your flow, and you’ll remember how great it felt to actually do it. The sense of relief of removing an energy block, and allowing your own energy to run in its place.
It’s an amazing thing.
So, I invite you in your grounding meditations this week, to let go of any concepts of fear about speaking, about using your own voice, on your own behalf. When the opportunity comes (and it will, and you will feel it) – SPEAK. Leap off the cliff and trust that when you land on the other side of the gap, you’ll be a changed person.
You will be.
Happy Reading!
